Welcome to Keep Brownwood Beautiful
We recognize that it's everyone's job to make our community a good place to live and that going green is here to stay. When you visit our town, you will marvel at our beautiful location in Texas Hill Country.
We are part of the Texas Hill Country Wildflower Trail, Motorcycle Trail, and the Texas Oak Trail (at Lake Brownwood State Park). Our historic attractions place us on the Texas Forts Trail, and we are also part of the Great Texas Wildlife Trail, following the slow-moving fishign stream, Pecan Bayou.
Keep Brownwood Beautiful focuses on keeping our community a healthy shade of green by recycling, reducing waste, and reusing what we can. Citizens of Brownwood meet on the first and third Saturday each month from 9am to 1pm to recycle their aluminum and metal cans, glass bottles and jars without lids, cardboard (broken down without packagine), newspaper, magazines and catalogs, white office paper (no junk mail, please), plastic drink bottles and milk jugs (#1 and #2 plastic only, without lids), cell phones, inkjet cartridges, and telephone books under the Austin Avenue Overpass (at Ave A & Brady).
Year-round recycling for eWaste (electronics) is available at the Recycling Center located on FM45 at the landfill. Electronic waste includes computers, phones, fax machines, printers, DVDs, VCRs, and things of that nature. There is a small fee for computer monitors and televisions. If you want to avoid a fee for recycling eWaste, please join us for the County Wide Cleanup, held twice a year, at which time we accept all waste free of charge, including televisions.
