Thanks to the Childs Family and Southside Baptist Church for adopting spots!
Adopt-A-Spot What is Adopt-A-Spot? The Adopt-A-Street program is a litter reduction campaign designed to remove debris and litter from city streets. The city-wide program takes the Don’t Mess With Texas Adopt-A-Highway program to the local level. Why Adopt-A-Spot? Clean streets encourage neighborhood pride and increase property values. People litter less if there is no litter around. One of the first things visitors notice when entering a community is the level of cleanliness. It prevents trash and litter from entering our watershed. What areas can be adopted? Areas with the city limits of Brownwood Roads Right-of-ways Boulevards Streets Storefront Sidewalks Cul-de-sac Areas around your church, business, or home. Because of safety issues, some street adoptions may be limited How large of an area is adopted? It needs to be manageable, so between a half mile to a mile stretch will be the most common length. A park or area that is agreed upon by KBB and the City What is the time commitment? At least 3 clean-ups a year A 2 year commitment What do volunteers get? A street sign that announces your sponsorship Clean-up supplies Free hauling and disposal of garbage collected Safety information and equipment Recognition of community involvement Who can apply? Individuals Services Groups Churches Businesses Families Civic and nonprofit groups How do I apply? Complete an application and return to KBB. KBB and a member from the City of Brownwood’s Public Works Department will review the application. The Program Coordinator of KBB will contact you to discuss your selected site and arrange an agreement.
This is a joint program of the nonprofit group Keep Brownwood Beautiful and the City of Brownwood.
