The City of Brownwood’s Recycling Center accepts materials from all Brown County residents.  The following is a list of the materials currently recycled at the Recycling Center:

 GLASS

 Including clear, brown, blue, and green glass containers, but NOT windows or mirrors.  Please remove lids and empty containers.  Labels do not have to be removed.

PLASTIC

 Including clear soda and water bottles (PETE 1) and translucent milk jugs (HDPE 2), but NOT juice, motor oil or any colored plastic containers. Please remove lids, empty and rinse containers, and separate by type. Labels do not have to be removed.

 

 METALS

 Including aluminum, tin cans, and appliances, but NOT aluminum foil, pie pans, or wire such as fencing.  Please rinse to remove food residue and separate by type.  Labels do not have to be removed.

  

PAPER

 Including newspaper, white office paper, and corrugated cardboard, but NOT junk mail or paperboard (like cereal boxes).  Please separate by type and keep clean and dry.

 

 TIRES

Including car, truck, and tractor tires.  A fee is charged for citizen and commercial disposal.

 

BATTERIES

Including any type of automobile batteries.

 OIL AND FILTERS*

 Including up to 5 gallons of used motor oil and anti-freeze as well as oil filters.  Cooking oil.

 

*NOT accepted from commercial establishments*

  GRASS AND LEAVES

Including any type of grass clippings or leaves. Must be removed from bags.

 LIMBS AND BRUSH

 Including tree limbs and trunks.  Longer limbs must be trimmed and cut down to 5 feet or less.

 

The limbs and brush are chipped to make mulch, which is provided at no cost to the public, when available.

 

 

Do NOT forget to cover your loads with a tarp.  It is state law.
