Mark your calendars for FREE Clean Up

The city of Brownwood Sanitation Department and Keep Brownwood Beautiful will be hosting the semi annual FREE citywide clean up is scheduled for October 4th at the usual location of Avenues A and Brady under the Monroe (Austin Avenue) Overpass.  Scheduled time is 8am to 2pm.  Acceptable items:

·        brush and yard debris

·        household garbage

·        paint

·        metal and appliances

·        anti-freeze

·        batteries

·        motor oil

·        car tires (maximum of 8 tires per household!)

·        recycling materials (glass, aluminum, newspapers, magazines, telephone books, cardboard, plastic soda/water bottles, and plastic milk/water jugs).

E waste will be collected at this event too.  This includes

·        computers

·        printers

·        copy machines

·        PDAs

·        VCR/DVD/VCD players

·        MP3 players, cell phones

·        inkjet and laser printer cartridges

·        There will be a disposal charge for television and computer monitors.

These clean ups are to prevent illegal dumping in our area.  If you know of a site where illegal dumping is occurring, please contact me at 641-0533.  As a reminder, Texas law requires all loads to be covered with a tarp or some material to prevent items from being blown out onto the road.

Due to TCEQ regulations, we will NOT be accepting household hazardous waste. For this waste, Comanche County Extension Office will be having a Pesticide Collection Day on Thursday, September 25th at the Comanche County Community Center from 8am to 1pm.

A big thank you to the KBB volunteers that host the in-town recycling trailer the first Saturday of the month. The recycling numbers are at an all time high.  Without these dedicated volunteers and the folks from the City Sanitation Department, the in-town recycling program would not be available.  Treat the volunteers with care, so KBB can continue to offer in-town recycling.
