What is the Farmers Market? The Brownwood Area farmers Market is a group of people who produce and sell locally grown food, such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, herbs, honey, and jams. Crafters can sell their home crafted items, too. Who can sell at the Farmers Market? To sell at the farmers market, you need to be a member of the Brownwood Area Farmers Market Association. The yearly membership is $25. There is a $5 stall fee each time a vendor sets up at the market. Why is there a membership and stall fee? The money collected is used to purchase miscellaneous market necessities, such as signs and insurance. What is sold at the Market? Locally produced fruits, vegetables, honey, jams, jellies, herbs, plants and crafts. The vendor must produce all items. Any prepared foods (jams, jellies, etc) must be made in an approved commercial kitchen to ensure the safety of the consumer. Why should I buy at the Farmers Market? Many reasons! You are supporting local and small growers. The produce is freshly harvested. You get to meet the folks who grow your food. Does the Farmers Market accept WIC vouchers? Yes, many of the vendors accept WIC vouchers. It is posted at vendors’ booth if WIC vouchers are accepted.
The Farmers Market isn’t just for food producers. Local, handmade crafts can be sold too.
